MIXCAT win ASUS ROG Nordic
Finnish team MIXCAT have triumped at the ASUS ROG Nordic Challenge in Helsinki, Finland, taking down Swedish Publiclir.se in the grand final 3-1 (16-8 on de_cache, 16-13 on de_mirage, 11-16 on de_cbble, and 16-6 on de_inferno).
In the second of three other smaller offline events transpiring the weekend of the major in DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, it was MIXCAT who have won the $10,000 ASUS ROG Nordic Challenge in Helsinki, Finland.
Taking place at the DigiExpo, the tournament featured a single elimination, best-of-three bracket with a best-of-five grand final to top off the weekend's action.
In the bracket stage, known European outfits such as Torpedo and RCTIC gave way to their opposition, but it was surely the quarter-finals exit of HS.GG, a pan-European mix comprising players such as Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov, Jan "wayLander" Rahkonen, and Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke that was of newsworthy interest.
Despite being technically retired, disturbed won a LAN this weekend
In the grand final, it was therefore Daniel "DomiNate" Garcia & co. of Publiclir.se that matched up against MIXCAT, a Finnish team which predictably lived up to its name by having a mix of Finnish players that differed from previous showings.
One should never underestimate a lineup of ice cold Finns however as Miikka "suNny" Kemppi's men managed to grind out a victory in the grand final over the course of four maps, winning 3-1 (16-8 on de_cache, 16-13 on de_mirage, 11-16 on de_cbble, and 16-6 on de_inferno).
